About the event

The Water Walk is intended to be an exploration of Delhi’s multifaceted history concerning water management, with a strong emphasis on the city’s baolis . These remarkable buildings are a physical reminder of how water shaped community life and brought rhythm and texture to the architecture and culture of Delhi's past. The walk will reactivate iconic sites of Delhi’s shared past, linking the city's history of utilizing common water systems to the contemporary challenge of establishing sustainable water practices.

Sohail Hashmi, one of Delhi's leading heritage specialists and storytellers, will lead the walk. Through his work with Delhinama, Sohail sir has made the history of Delhi accessible to audiences of all kinds. His perspective on history has the potential to connect a sense of historicity to contemporary practice, making water not merely a heritage discussion, but a crucial climate discussion.
